We aim to foster a sense of community among songwriters, lyricists and composers and encourage the next generation of professional music writers. One of our main pillars of activity is cultivating creative talent.
Our Early Career Network builds close ties between The Ivors Academy, emerging songwriters and creators, and the best of music educational institutions across the country, to create mutually rewarding collaborations, to engage with and celebrate the future generation of music creators, and support them as they begin their careers.
Individuals aged 18-24, in Higher or Further Education, or have graduated in the last 3 years can become part of the Early Career Network themselves for free. There are also two levels of involvement for academic institutions: joining as an Affiliate is free of charge, or you can become a Partner by making a financial contribution. If you’re a young songwriter or composer, you can become part of The Ivors Academy Early Career Network, which will give you:
featuring events, opportunities, offers, discounts and more that are relevant to young creators
which meets each term to ensure the issues that young creators care about are heard and acted on. You'll need to become an Early Career member of The Ivors Academy to join the Early Career Council.
All Early Career Council members will all be eligible to stand to be a full Board Member of The Ivors Academy (one vacancy available for a Early Career Council member)

Becoming an Affiliate is free of charge to any institution and provides the following benefits:
on The Ivors Academy activities, campaigns and events
*payment made for such events will be on a case by case basis
including networking events undertaken in conjunction with our Partners’ venues
at The Ivors Academy for students and young creators
A closer relationship with The Ivors Academy is available for those institutions who become a Partner. In return for a £500 annual contribution, Partners will be able to:
Appoint one of your young creators to join The Ivors Academy Early Career Council. All Early Career Council members will all be eligible to stand to be a full Board Member of The Ivors Academy (one vacancy available for a Early Career Council member)
The Early Career Council will meet once a term and meetings will rotate through our Partners' locations
delivered by The Ivors Academy across the country
hosted by The Ivors Academy, at our London home and further afield
Your students/young creators will be eligible to join our mentoring programme and receive one-to-one mentoring from an Academy Member
on our website and mutual publicity of relevant news and events
