Standard Membership

WHO IS STANDARD MEMBERSHIP FOR?

If you are a music creator, whether just embarking on your career or experiencing growing levels of success and recognition, join the Academy as a Standard Member.

HAVE YOUR SAY

We want to ensure that all voices in our community are heard. Our members are always invited to share their concerns and beliefs with us so that we can represent you as authentically as we possibly can. We will then amplify your voice when we campaign for your rights.

As a membership organisation, all members have voting rights and are encouraged to attend and contribute to our AGM and participate in our Board and Committee elections.

Stand on strong foundations

A career as a music creator often lacks the guidance and protection that other careers may provide. That’s why we provide all of our members with a comprehensive insurance package (including £2 million public liability cover, from 1st April 2019), discounts on additional insurance (such as writer indemnity and travel insurance), and free advice on career development, industry practice, legal, tax and contract issues.

Access all areas

Standard Members also have access to free or discounted tickets for our events.

Enjoy our partner discounts

You will have access to discounts, including an exclusive discounted Apple Store just for our members, and to events hosted by our UK Music partner organisations.

Welcome to the family

Perhaps the most powerful benefit of membership is access to the wider music-making community around you. Our society of composers and songwriters offers networking and mentoring opportunities, career development advice, and the chance to share ideas and insights with your creative colleagues. Our home at The Ministry in London gives us a natural hub for member events, but our wider programme will allow us to gather with members and the music community across the country over the year.

Standard Membership is for all music creators who are, or have aspirations to be, a professional songwriter or composer.

Standard membership costs £92 per year (or £96 if you choose to pay monthly, at £8 per month). If you are aged 24 or under, we offer an Under 25 discounted Standard Membership which costs £50 per year. If you apply for Under 25 Membership, you will need to send us proof of age by email so that we can verify your discounted membership.

Membership fees can be paid via Direct Debit or Stripe and unless you are taking advantage of the Under 25 discount, you can choose whether you’d prefer to pay annually or monthly.

If there is a financial barrier preventing you from joining The Ivors Academy, please visit The Ivors Academy Membership Bursary Scheme webpage for more details.
