The Ivors Academy Honours celebrates the trailblazers, innovators and advocates who champion songwriters and composers.
They pay tribute to those making a lasting impact to support a thriving songwriter and composer community. The awards recognise music executives and creators who are setting higher standards and driving best practice across the sector.
At the 71st Ivor Novello Awards on 21 May, Elton John received an Ivors Academy Honour in recognition of his outstanding work championing songwriters, composers and creativity. This spans his powerful advocacy for creative rights and freedoms, most recently in the debates on AI, and championing of new and emerging talent which has transformed the careers of countless songwriters and composers.
Last year’s honourees were RAYE, Kae Tempest, Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson, Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Publishing Jon Platt, CEO and Founder of the MOBO Group Kanya King CBE, Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade Sir Chris Bryant MP, Founder of Manners McDade Catherine Manners and John Sweeney (1959 – 2025).
