The Ivors Academy’s statement on coronavirus from Crispin Hunt

Chair of The Ivors Academy Crispin Hunt responds to COVID-19 outbreak.

At this difficult and uncertain time I wanted to write a message of support to all our members, friends and partners to say that The Ivors Academy is here for you, and with you. The coronavirus presents us all with an exceptional and extreme circumstance. Yes, it is serious. Yes, we will get through it. Yes, it will probably affect us all personally in some way.

The Academy is first and foremost a community with us, the members, at its heart. And the health and wellbeing of the community is our main priority. As a community we also have a duty to our friends, families, colleagues and wider society to look out for, and protect, each other. Please follow guidance from the NHS and make sure you are up to date with the latest advice.

This is a rapidly changing situation and we are assessing the impact on The Ivors ceremony scheduled to take place in May. We are working with partners to agree next steps and will announce details as soon as possible.

We are closely monitoring the situation, and are following advice from UK health authorities, the World Health Organisation and HM Government.

As a community we will need to come together to help each other see this through. I sincerely hope that we all feel able to call on each other for the support and comfort we all might need over the coming weeks.

We will email members with further updates and information about the advice, support and guidance we will provide. You can also connect with us on Twitter and Facebook, and sign up to our newsletter.

My thoughts and strength to you all and to your friends and family.

Crispin Hunt
Chair, The Ivors Academy
