In The Room is a leadership development and educational programme for songwriters and composers who want to be an advocate and leader in the industry.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Over the course of a six-eight months, four songwriters and composers will get the opportunity to work with their peers and members of The Ivors Academy Trust to conduct paid research into an area of their choice that affects them as a songwriter or composer.
Participants will receive mentoring from their peers and previous participants, mentoring from industry specialists and educators, networking opportunities, and the opportunity to present their findings to members of the music industry.
The programme aims to help the leaders of tomorrow develop their confidence, leadership skills and be empowered to make change from within the industry.
AM I ELIGIBLE?
We are looking for four songwriters or composers who are:
- Based in the UK
- In the early stages of their career
- From underrepresented groups or have experienced barriers to accessing the music industry and wouldn’t ordinarily have access to opportunities like In the Room.
- Passionate about raising the profile of other young music creators
- Demonstrate diversity across a range of backgrounds, locations, and genres that make up the music community in the UK.
- Aspiring to become industry leaders as well as music makers
- Available for 3.5 hours per week between 9am –5pm. There will be some flexibility to hours
