The Ivors Academy is looking for diverse candidates to join its Media Committee

The Ivors Academy is seeking applications from music creators interested in serving on The Ivors Academy Media Committee up until annual elections in April 2021.

Four vacancies have resulted from the Academy’s push for increasing the size and diversity of its Board and Committees ahead of the elections next year, and two members stepping down from the Committee

Graham Davies, CEO of the Ivors Academy said:

“This is an important and exciting time to get more involved in the work of The Ivors Academy and nowhere is more important than in the area of music for screen. There is much to do to work against the coercive environment composers face in the face of increasing buyouts and erosion of rights. We are delighted to welcome an increasingly diverse range of music creators to the Academy’s Board and Committees to bring about much needed and long-overdue change in the industry. We invite people from all perspectives who write for screen to get in touch.”

The Media Committee is one of four 14-strong Genre Committees at the Ivors Academy who have the task of representing the wider creative community in the development of policy and change. Being a member of the Media Committee requires attendance at five three-hour meetings a year, now held on video conference. Joining the Media Committee ahead of next years’ elections provides a great opportunity to explore the work of the Academy.

For more information or to express interest in the vacancies contact by 5pm on Wednesday 28 October: maria@ivorsacademy.com

We actively encourage expressions of interest from media composers from a variety of backgrounds, and with a broad range of lived experiences and perspectives.
