In December last year Discovery Networks sought to cancel the future royalties of media composers in the US. The Ivors Academy joined in support of US composer representatives to push back against this aggressive move and are pleased to see a reversal of this draconian strategy. But why did this happen and what does it mean for the future outlook of music rights and income? The Ivors Academy ‘Music Buyouts, Discovery Networks and Royalties’ event on 4 March will bring together leading industry players to explore what this all means.
Confirmed speakers are:
Graham Davies (moderator), The Ivors Academy
Dru Masters, Media Composer and PRS Board Director
Michael Price, Media Composer
Darrell Alexander, Cool Music
John Mottram, PRS for Music
Paul Clements, MPA Group
After the panel, attendees are invited to join the speakers, members of the Academy and guests for networking drinks at The Ministry’s bar. If you work in screen composition or care about the livelihoods of composers, it’s an event not to be missed.
Free for members, £5 for Youth Network members, £10 for general admissions. RSVP/reserve your place on Eventbrite here.
