The spotlight in February fell on our Academic Partner the Academy of Contemporary Music and Academy member Emily Saunders. As well as sharing her career story and her working experiences as a critically claimed songwriter, composer, vocalist and broadcaster, students from both Guildford and Birmingham also had the opportunity to present their own songs to Emily at The Ivors Academy Demo Doc sessions. There was a great atmosphere in the studio for the playback session and a welcome variety in styles for all the songs that were presented. Emily was impressed by the technical quality of the songs as well as the lyrical content. Hats off to the songwriting talent at ACM, the huge creative energy on campus will surely produce chart-topping success in the future!
The Ivors Academy would like to say a huge thank you to Kaya Herstad-Carney (Vocal Specialist Tutor) and David Penri-Evans (Senior Music Lecturer) for their help on the day and in the lead up to our event in Guildford. Thanks also goes to Victoria Perks (Vocal Lecturer) and David McGrain (Centre Manager) at ACM Birmingham for all their help and assistance.
