LGBT+ Music Creators: Hidden Histories, Open Conversation

25 February 14:00 – 15:00 GMT

The Ivors Academy are delighted to have launched its new LGBTQI+ Working Group this February and celebrate LGBT+ History Month.

Join us as we discuss the career stories and experiences of composers and songwriters who are all a part of the LGBT+ community. We discover inspirational and influential LGBT+ composers, songwriters and performers from the past who had to hide their sexuality, and explore with our working group how acknowledging their sexuality has influenced their career decisions.

Our host will be composer Will Davenport who will be joined by The Ivors Academy CEO Graham Davies, composer and The Ivors 2020 Rising Star with Apple Music nominee Carmel Smickersgill, songwriter/music artist Amber Jay Higgins, singer/songwriter Tenzin, composer Edmund Jolliffe, composer and The Ivors Composer Award 2020 nominee Jasper Dommett, and Para Orchestra Associate Director and Composer Lloyd Coleman.

There will be a chance for the audience to ask questions throughout the event and interact with the guests.
