Transparency Code for Songwriters & Composers

Join the Ivors Academy and fellow songwriters and composers to understand what the music industry’s new ‘Transparency Code’ means for you.

Join the Ivors Academy and fellow songwriters and composers to understand what the music industry’s new ‘Transparency Code’ means for you and how you can use the code to get clear and accurate royalty statements from your publisher through a new template produced for Ivors Academy members.

The ‘UK Voluntary Code of Good Practice on Transparency in Music Streaming’, introduced as part of the music streaming reforms brought about by the Ivors Academy’s Fix Streaming campaign, came into effect earlier this year in July 2024. The code sets out minimum standards across the UK’s music industry and is supported by all members of the UK Music trade associations, including PRS for Music, the Music Publishers Association, and the Ivors Academy.

This webinar, hosted by Chris Cooke (editor of Complete Music Update) will unpack the code, explain in clear language how songwriters and composers can benefit from improved transparency under the code, and provide practical advice on how you can request new information from your publisher.

Three takeaways for members who attend:
– Understand how to use the new Transparency Code to better understand their royalty statements from their publishers
– Ask questions on how to practically use our new Transparency Code template
– Learn how the Ivors Academy is planning on driving further transparency for songwriters and improvements on the Transparency Code
