The Ivors Academy has announced that The Ivors with Apple Music will take place on Thursday 19th May 2022 at Grosvenor House, London.
Recognised as a pinnacle of achievement since they were first presented in 1956, The Ivors Academy presents Ivor Novello Awards for exceptional songwriting and composing. Each Ivor is unique and represents peer recognition with categories judged by award winning songwriters and composers from across the Academy’s membership.
2021 winners included Harry Styles, Lianne La Havas, Celeste, Obongjayar and Fraser T Smith. Goldfrapp, Tears for Fears and Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were recognised for their outstanding songwriting achievements.
Graham Davies, CEO of The Ivors Academy said, “Save the date, The Ivors with Apple Music is back in May. Yet again, we will bring the music industry together to celebrate the most incredible achievements in songwriting and composing for screen.”
The Rising Star Award with Apple Music will return for the third year. Created to honour young talent who demonstrate exceptional potential, the award includes a mentoring scheme from Apple Music where all nominees receive a year-long mentorship from a well-established Academy member.
Best Album, Best Contemporary Song and Best Song Musically and Lyrically will recognise creative excellence in songwriting. Best Original Film Score, Best Original Video Game and Best Television Soundtrack will acknowledge exceptional screen composition. PRS for Music Most Performed Work will return with past winners including Adele, Ed Sheeran and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man.
Anyone can submit eligible works for The Ivors, including songwriters and composers. Music commercially released for the first time in the UK during 2021 will be eligible for this year’s awards.
Entries open on Monday 13th December and close on Friday 21st January 2021.
