The Ivors Classical Awards FAQs

Why is the Best Sound Art category not listed for 2025?

The Best Sound Art category is being paused this year while we take more time to review it fully. We are looking at how we define and judge the category to make sure that it is relevant, fair and appropriately recognises the work being created in this space. We’re committed to supporting composers working in sound arts and this review is part of that commitment.

How are The Ivors Classical Awards judged?

The nominated award categories are judged by panels of established composers and practitioners within new music.

Gift of the Academy Awards are chosen by the Awards Committee of composers and songwriters, a sub-committee of The Ivors Academy Board.

You can suggest a recipient for a Gift of the Academy Awards year-round. Suggest a recipient.
