Members Spotlight – LGBTQI+ Working Group

In recognition of LGBTQI+ History Month we spotlight a few members of our LGBTQI+ Working Group and learn about their tips and experiences in songwriting and composition.

February is LGBTQI+ History Month and in recognition our LGBTQI+ Working Group are doing a take over. This month we speak to Amber Jay, Edmund Jolliffe and Will Davenport (Chair) from our LGBTQI+ Working Group about their experiences in songwriting and composition, as well as their views on inclusivity in the music industry and what more can be done to have an industry that is representative of everyone.

The LGBTQI+ Working Group is a space for LGBT+ people (and allies) to share stories and experiences and consider ways to improve the music industry. Members of the working group will come along to the event on Monday the 21st to speak to members of the Academy about what they believe could be done to help build a more inclusive industry.

Will Davenport (Chair of the LGBTQI+ Working Group): “LGBTQI+ History Month is all about representation, and the ambition of the Working Group is to further represent the wealth of LGBTQI+ experience within the music industry.

There is no rule or prerequisite for joining the group, simply If you have something to say and would like to connect with others then we would love you to join. Email myself at willdavenport.music@gmail.com to learn more about the group and how to get involved!”
