The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, in association with PRS for Music, will present this year’s Gold Badge Awards on October 19th 2011 at The Savoy in London.

The Gold Badge Awards celebrate the careers of people who have made a special contribution to Britain’s music and entertainment industry, both those in the limelight and those who work behind the scenes often without public recognition.

Over the last 38 years the awards have paid tribute to a wide range of music industry professionals, including broadcasters, recording artists, publishers, arrangers, managers, producers and record company executives.

This year’s recipient list covers a similarly wide range of disciplines, and includes performers and composers, broadcasters, a choreographer, a music youth worker, producers and arrangers.

This year BASCA will be awarding the Gold Badge of Merit to (in alphabetical order):

  • Joan Armatrading MBE (award sponsored by the Musicians’ Union)
  • Tony Burrows
  • Christina Coker OBE
  • Ray Davies
  • Christopher Gunning
  • Mick Hucknall (award sponsored by PPL)
  • John Leckie
  • Arlene Phillips OBE
  • Mike Read
  • Mike Ross-Trevor
  • Clare Teal
  • Dennis Waterman

Nigel Elderton, Chairman MCPS at PRS for Music says:

This year’s Gold Badge Awards celebrates the very best of our industry, from those in the spotlight to those that play a supporting role.  Each recipient’s contribution to the music business has been significant and they are all worthy winners of this prestigious award.”
