John Altman, composer, music arranger, orchestrator, conductor and saxophonist, sits down with award-winning multi-instrumentalist Orphy Robinson to discuss his approach to composing and arranging.
John is an multi-award-winning composer and arranger with a career spanning film, television and pop.
He has written for Simple Minds, Barry White, Tina Turner, Björk, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, Pretenders, Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson and more and has scored over 4,000 commercials.
As an arranger, he has contributed to 19 platinum records, including George Michael’s Faith, has worked with artists such as Tina Turner, Björk, Diana Ross and Rod Stewart, and arranged and produced Aled Jones' classic Walking in the Air.
A highly respected woodwind player and bandleader, Altman has also collaborated with Prince, Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse and Quincy Jones.
