Join us for our first in-person member event in Ireland – an opportunity to meet and connect with fellow songwriters and composers.
At the heart of the event will be a special conversation between Tom Gray, Chair of The Ivors Academy, and Tom Dunne, Chair of Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO).
Both are songwriters, musicians and leading advocates for music creators. They’ll share perspectives from their careers and discuss the music industry today, the future of creators’ rights and what it takes to establish and sustain a career in a changing music landscape.
There’ll be plenty of time to meet other members, make new connections and continue the conversation.
Speakers
- Tom Gray is a Mercury Prize-winning musician and Chair of The Ivors Academy. A founding member of the band Gomez, his #BrokenRecord campaign resulted in historic recording debt forgiveness for hundreds of performers, it also led to reforms to metadata and transparency in the UK. He was instrumental in securing per diems for UK songwriters from major label groups in 2025. He is a Director of PRS for Music and of MCPS, and in 2022 he received the Music Producer Guild’s Unsung Hero award. He is still a working songwriter, composer & lyricist.
- Tom Dunne is a leading Irish singer, songwriter, broadcaster and columnist, widely recognised for his contribution to Irish alternative rock and music broadcasting. He is best known as frontman of Something Happens and as a familiar voice on Irish radio, including long-running cultural and music programmes on Newstalk. Dunne also works as a music and cultural columnist for publications including The Irish Examiner and The Sunday Times. His longstanding contribution to Irish music was recognised through his election to the board of the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO), where he later served as Chairperson.
