Reporting to: Senior Awards Manager
Contract: Full-time, fixed term on a consultancy agreement
Location: Hybrid (London office with remote working)
Compensation: £14.80 per hour

The Ivors Academy is seeking a temporary Events and Awards Assistant to join the team on a fixed-term 12-week contract on a freelance basis. This hybrid role combines office-based work in London with remote working and offers the opportunity to help deliver some of the most prestigious awards in music.

Role summary

We’re looking for a temporary Events and Awards Assistant to join the Academy’s Awards Team on a 12-week fixed-term contract, from Tuesday 1 September to Friday 20 November, supporting two awards projects: The Ivors Academy Honours and The Ivors Composer Awards.

We are seeking a candidate who is available to start on 1 September 2026.

You will provide flexible administrative and project support that contributes to the planning and delivery of The Ivors Academy Honours on Thursday 1 October, and The Ivors Composer Awards on Tuesday 17 November.

Reporting to the Senior Awards Manager, you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and support a varied programme of activity, including event administration and project coordination.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, confident working across multiple priorities, and able to respond calmly and proactively to changing demands. They will have strong administrative and IT skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a practical, can-do approach.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting ticketing, guestlist and event hospitality administration
  • Booking travel, arranging deliveries and coordinating practical event requirements
  • Supporting the creation and checking of event materials, including place cards, cue cards and schedules
  • Supporting the acquisition, organisation and distribution of promotional and production assets from recipients, nominees and their teams
  • Maintaining accurate project records, contact lists and shared documentation
  • Providing day-to-day administrative and project support as required
  • Other ad hoc responsibilities as required

Skills and competencies

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and efficiency
  • Experience of working under pressure, ideally within an events or project-based environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and WordPress
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence managing multiple tasks and working to deadlines
  • A calm, organised and adaptable approach to work
  • An interest in music, culture, awards or live events would be an advantage

Remuneration and location

Salary: £14.80 per hour

Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.30pm (one-hour unpaid lunch break)
Evening work expected on event days: 1 October and 17 November

Location: This role is a combination of remote working and office work at The Ivors Academy, 1 Upper James Street, London W1F 9ED.
