We are delighted to welcome critically acclaimed composer Daniel Kidane and British Composer Award winner Gary Carpenter to The White Space at our offices this September. The intimate session will provide a unique opportunity to hear about Daniel’s extensive career to date. From humble musical beginnings to his extraordinary Last Night of the Proms 2019 commission, this is a chance to gain valuable insights from the composer as he speaks openly about his craft and creative process behind many of his most notable works.
Since graduating from RNCM under the tutelage of Gary Carpenter, Daniel has gone on to write an abundance of celebrated orchestral works and commissions for the likes of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, CBSO Youth Orchestra, Chineke! Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, with his music being performed extensively across the UK and abroad, as well as being broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
The impact of Daniel’s multi-cultural heritage are influences that inform his music and can be heard in his work, capturing social and racial injustice, and often exploring inclusion, diversity and social narratives. As an active member of The Ivors Academy (Daniel sits on the Classical committee and previously The Ivors committee), we’ll hear about his cross-genre inspirations, the changing nature of the industry and what the future holds for classical music.
