Each year The Ivors Academy invites entries for the following seven Ivor Novello Award categories:
Rising Star Award with Apple Music
Best Album
Best Contemporary Song
Best Original Film Score
Best Original Video Game Score
Best Song Musically and Lyrically
Best Television Soundtrack
Entries for Best Album, Best Contemporary Song, Best Original Film Score, Best Original Video Game Score, Best Song Musically and Lyrically, and Best Television Soundtrack are open now and close on 30th April 2021 at 5pm.
Enter via the Academy’s Entry site here. There are separate eligibility criteria for each award category, please ensure you read the Rules and Guidelines prior to entering.
Entries to the Rising Star Award with Apple Music have now closed.
Anyone can enter an eligible work or submission, including the songwriter or composer themselves.
To be eligible, works must have a British or Irish writing contribution of at least 33.3%. A non-British or non-Irish national’s contribution can be taken into account, provided the songwriter or composer was ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom from 1 January 2020 to 31 March 2021.
Works eligible for Best Album, Best Song Musically and Lyrically and Best Contemporary Song must have been commercially released in the UK for the first time between 1st January 2020 and 31st March 2021. Works no longer have to have appeared on The Official UK Top 100 chart to be eligible.
An administration fee of £62.50 + VAT is waived for members of The Ivors Academy. To find out about joining The Ivors Academy visit our Membership page. Membership bursaries are offered by The Ivors Academy Trust should there be a financial barrier to joining the Academy.
The Academy has published Award Access Guidelines to improve access to its awards and remove barriers to entry.
